The Grand Bahamas Island Has a Spectacular Beach to Suit Any Pleasure
Most of the larger resorts on the Grand Bahamas Island have their own stretch of beach within walking distance from their guests" rooms. Resort like the Our Lucaya Reef Village, Radisson Our Lucaya or the Viva Wyndham Fortuna Beach all have beautifully maintained beaches with bar and food service, chairs, towels and umbrellas  and water sports to keep the entire family entertained, all of these amenities are included in their all-inclusive vacation package. If you are content to have everything in one place and not get in a car and drive then the resort beaches may be just right for you, but if you are looking to venture out and explore the Island"s beaches are plentiful.Grab a taxi, hire a tour bus or rent a jeep and head off to discover your own adventure at any of the many beaches accessible along the highway. It is wise to have a good local map as not all the roads are well marked so you may have to do a bit of navigating to find your way around the Island. All beaches on the Island are publics so if you see a stretch of beach you want to take a swim, a break or a picture, pull over and enjoy.
The Lucaya Beachcan be found off of Royal Palm Way not far from the Port Lucaya hotels. This popular tourist beach has just about any water-sport activity, from snorkeling to parasailing. It"s also a nice stretch of beach for sightseeing and people watching. If you are looking for a fun beach-party atmosphere this could be your beach.
Taino Beach is also located in the Lucaya area, and is separated by a saltwater canal from Lucaya Beach. Taino beach is a family favorite with children because it has a small playground and adults take comfort in its tranquil waters. During holidays the beach is the site of many local cookouts. Be warned you may come across locals who have products and services to sell the tourists from hair braiding, straw goods and other handmade trinkets.
Gold Rock Beach is part of the National Park.  It is a short drive east from most resort and about 25 miles from Freeport. Gold Rock is very secluded and spectacular at low tide. BBQ pits, picnic tables and benches are available, but no other amenities. North of the beach, across the road are the Lucayan Caverns, the world"s longest underground surveyed cave system.
The beaches of the Grand Bahamas Island are beautiful, secluded or active and plentiful. Book your first trip to the Island and find out why so many travelers come back every year. As with all vacations abroad, it is wise to book with a qualified travel consultant to find the best vacation package to suit both your wallet and your vacation needs.
