Maximum temperature in summers rise upto 25 degree celsius and falls upto 2 degree celsius. Gangtok can be visited throughout the year but visitors generally avoid monsoon months from July to August.

Rumtek Monastery
It was constructed in 1960s and is located on the outskirts of Gangtok town. Rumtek Monastery is one of the oldest and the sacred pilgrimage places for Buddhists in Sikkim. It houses a number of old Buddhist manuscripts, artifacts, religious paintings and idols.
Namgyal Institute of Tibetology
It is also known by the name of Tibetology Museum and has a huge collection of Buddhist statues, scriptures, masks and tapestries. It is the main centre of studying Buddhist philosophy in Sikkim.
Himalayan Zoological Park
It is one of such Zoological Parks in Himalayan terrains in India where one can spot various wild animals, who are at the verge of extinction, in their natural habitat. Some of the attractions of the Park are Himalayan Black Bear, Barking Deer, Tibetan Wolf, Red Pandas, Spotted Deer and Snow Leopard.
Jawahar Lal Nehru Botanical Garden
It is one of the must visit places in Gangtok where one can see a number of species of orchids, trees and herbs in a covered place.
Ganesh Tok
Situated at an altitude of 6,500 feet, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesh. Ganesh Tok provides an enchanting view of the surrounding from the top of the hill. Though it is a small temple but it attract a large number of visitors on their tour to Sikkim.
Hanuman Tok
Dedicated to Lord Hanuman, the temple is situated at a height of 7,200 feet and is managed by the Indian Army. One can have the beautiful view of snow covered Kanchenjunga mountain range from this spot. The spot provides the mesmerising view of the Gangtok city.
